-SouthCoast Health's treatment offices remain open for patient visits-
Due to the current public health emergency surrounding COVID-19, we want to keep you abreast of processes that SouthCoast Health is implementing to protect the health of our patients, employees and the community. SouthCoast Health's COVID-19 Safety Procedures.
We don't want your choice of health insurance to get in the way of you receiving SouthCoast Health's top quality care. That's why SouthCoast Health participates with most major insurance carriers. However, now more than ever, ongoing changes with health insurance plans make it especially important for you to understand your coverage and know the costs YOU are responsible for when visiting your physician, having tests, and undergoing procedures. For this reason, SouthCoast Health recommends that you learn the details of your plan before upcoming health care visits.
Your insurance plan may require multiple co-pays, higher deductibles, and co-insurance. Coverage will depend on the type of plan your employer has chosen and the options available to you. You can learn the details of your policy by visiting your insurance company’s website or contacting its customer/member services department. The back of your insurance card should include the phone numbers and website addresses you will need.

Should you elect to purchase your health care insurance through the National Health Insurance Marketplace and you wish to receive your health care services at SouthCoast Health, you should consider enrolling in the health insurance plans offered by Humana or Ambetter. These are the only confirmed national health insurance plan that SouthCoast Health will be accepting in 2017.
The 2003 Medicare Modernization Act introduced several new options for Medicare eligible patients. These plans are called Medicare Advantage Plans, and currently there are over 450 of them nationwide, offered by a number of private insurance companies. Because SouthCoast Health does not participate with all of these plans, we want to provide you with information regarding our participation so that you can include this in your decision-making process. SouthCoast Health will of course continue to participate fully with Medicare Part B (traditional Medicare).
While SouthCoast Health does not endorse Medicare Advantage Plans over traditional Medicare and encourages you to research them carefully, we know that some of our patients will select one for their healthcare coverage. SouthCoast Health participates in Medicare Advantage Plans as follows:
SouthCoast Health accepts all PFFS plans.
SouthCoast Health participates in the HMO plans offered by Coventry and WellCare.
SouthCoast Health accepts many PPO plans, including the new Clover Health plan. Please check with your Medicare Advantage Plan provider to confirm the plan's participation with our physicians.
Should you enroll with a plan that SouthCoast Health does not accept, your physician can continue to see you on a self-pay basis.
If you have any questions about SouthCoast Health's participation in Medicare Advantage plans, please contact your physician's office directly or call SouthCoast Health at 912.691.3600.
