SouthCoast Health is proud to present the 11th annual United Way Turkey Trot on November 28, 2019 at Daffin Park.
SouthCoast Health has been the title sponsor of the event since it started back in 2009. “This run advocates for total wellness within members of the community, which is something that we’re constantly striving to accomplish,” said John Marrero, administrator at SouthCoast Health. “Our mission is to ensure better living for those we can impact, and this United Way Turkey Trot does just that.”
The Kids-K kicks off the fun-filled day at 8:00 AM. This 400-yard race is perfect for children eight years old or younger, and it’s free with no registration required. At 8: 15 AM the Diaper Dash will start, with children ages two and under running 40 feet. Finally, the main run and walk of the 4-mile course begins at 8:30 AM.
After the races, participants are invited to a post-race awards ceremony hosted at Daffin Park where they can enjoy food, beverages, and local vendors. The ceremony will include prizes for the top three overall male and female racers, the top three male and female racers in each age group, and additional awards such as the largest family, runner from farthest away, most senior, most junior, and best costume.
All proceeds for this event will go to local causes and charities through United Way. United Way is dedicated to creating solutions for communities around the world, with a focus on education, financial stability, and health. These solutions include works such as helping a child learn to read, donating money to make sure people have access to quality medical care, and speaking out in support of policies that provide better opportunities for the community.
