In honor of American Heart Month, SouthCoast Health cardiologist, Roy D. Flood, Jr., M.D., FACC appeared on WTOC’s Morning Break to provide some heart-healthy ways to help avoid cardiovascular disease. Dr. Flood shared tips that can impact your lifestyle choices to help maintain a healthy heart and keep you from seeking emergency care for your heart in the future. He also discussed how awareness of your own issues, such as blood pressure and family history, affects your heart health too.
With February also being Black History Month, Dr. Flood discussed how African Americans are members of our community that are more prone to heart disease. Dr. Flood emphasized that while any time of the year is a good time to check in with a medical provider about your heart health, now is a great time if you haven't checked on it in a while with these important awareness topics this month.
