In a recent Welcome to Our Community interview with WTOC, SouthCoast Health cardiologist Dr. Roy Flood shared important information about how pregnancy can affect heart health and why women with existing heart conditions should seek care before becoming pregnant.

During the interview, Dr. Flood explains how pregnancy increases the workload on the heart, discusses common cardiovascular conditions that can develop during and after pregnancy, and highlights which women may be at greater risk for complications.
