Staying hydrated is especially important during the summer months, but dehydration isn't always easy to recognize.
SouthCoast Health family medicine physician Dr. Leland R. Dampier III recently joined WTOC's Morning Break to discuss the early warning signs of dehydration, including symptoms that many people overlook. He also shared practical tips for staying properly hydrated and explained the serious health risks that can result from severe dehydration, such as brain and cognitive issues, cardiovascular strain, organ failure, and heat-related illness.
Drawing from both his medical expertise and his experience as a youth football coach, Dr. Dampier also discussed why proper hydration is so important for student-athletes and highlighted the safeguards in place to help keep them safe during practices and games.
